system restore??

    hey gusy how are you all well first i just wanted to introuduce my self, My name is Ed i been looking through this forum for a while its great but now i need some help, I am not expert so please don't be mean lol and i did use the search before i posted this.


    System restore can it be done through safe mode in command prompt , I have a computer that does not boot to windows no more it will start to boot then get the blue screen and says that could be something wrong with the disk i think can i go so command prompt and run system restore and see if that works ???

    can someone help on this thank you or if not what can i try>>>

    press f8 when booting up it will take you into the boot options screen
    when it says somrthing is wrong with the disk what disk does it say,if it is your h/d you are unlikely to get in

    ok ok i knw how to get there but oncei get into the command prompt screen for the console for xp is there an option to run system restore from there ??

    once you get the options try
    last known good configuration
    restore
    safe mode
    or boot from the windows cd and do a repair

    Howdy play1998...

    At the C:\> type in c:\windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exe, and see if it will run the restore...
