Hi to all, I have had a problem with my audio play-back within video files ( another story, see " sound problem " in the hardware forum if your interested ) anyway in my fumblings I seem to have altered some settings that I can not find again, oops!!!
My question ( at last I hear you say ) Is there a system restore or return to default settings program within windows 98se.
Thanks for any help given Alan

Hiya

Yes there is.

Reboot to DOS and at the prompt, type the following. Note the space before the /

scanreg /restore

and pick a date prior to the changes. Don't pick the oldest date.

Thanks eddie, that at least has sorted out one of my problems.
Could I pester you for a bit more advice ?
I recently installed a new soundblaster card as I was having problems with my onboard sound. To save us both a bit of time ( and to be a bit cheeky, sorry ) my problem and a some data concerning IRQ's are posted on the hardware forum under "problem with sound??? "
A quick summary, I can play audio files from cd rom and off hard drives, I can play video and audio but the audio is very distorted, if I reduce the file to the task bar the audio plays fine. One idea was that there was a conflict on IRQ 11.
I'm not that savy so any more help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance Alan

Hiya

Not really into Hardware, but I do have a dabble now and then. I see AcaCandy is looking at it, and she is very good at that sort of stuff, as are many that answer in there.

I would say, stick with what she says, but if it ever turned into a software problem, I may be able to help that way.
