Hello everyone this is my first posting so I hope you will bear with me while I explain the help I need.

The system restore isn't working on my computer. When I pick a date to restore back to, I get the message "Restoration was unsuccessful". I have tried other dates and it's always the same message. I'm using window ME with a 450 Intel Pentium III.
Any help you can give me will be grately appreciated.

    Hi lilyputt, welcome to TSG.

You probably mean the scanreg /restore feature, correct?

If it's not working, then you have no good registries to restore.

What is the problem that you are trying to correct?

There could be several reasons why System Restore is unsuccesful in WinME.
Candys suggestion of scanreg /restore is a viable alternative to WinME System Restore if the problem you are having is not older than 5 successful startup dates.
As Candy suggested explain the problem that is prompting you to attempt a Restore and we should be able to help you through it.
Scanreg /restore function is done using a WinME bootdisc and selecting the minimal boot function. If you ultimatly need help doing that I am sure someone can explain it to you.

Thanks to AcaCandy and davey7549 for your prompt replies you are so generous with your time.

AcaCandy .......the S/R is the one in my system tools. Is that the same thing as scanreg/restore?????? the S/R shows restore points but when I try to restore back I get that unsuccessful message again. I have since corrected the fault I had but would like to have my S/R working just in case I should need it. (which is most likely as you will be able to tell I am not computer wise yet).
The fault I had was with my two ISP servers, don't ask me why I had two it's a long story. I have since reduced to one and find the problem I had getting my mail has gone along with a lot of other niggling little windows. My system is working well at the moment but I must learn not to "fiddle" because that's when the problems start.
If you can think of anything that I could be doing wrong I would really appreciate the help.
