system running slow/norton detecting problems + pop up blocker not working

I am having problems with my browser. The pop up blocker I installed (cox and others) is not working and the browser itself is running slow. I have tried reinstalling the cox pop-up blocker but the installation fails. Also, Norton is detecting multiple viruses.

Help would be appreciated
