It is variable for each program. Try right clicking on the icon in the tray and finding someway to disable it there, if not try finding the actual program, and going to options or preferences or something like that, and most often then not, there is an option to diable the system tray icon there. Otherwise you're stuck with it, and have to find a 'hard' way to remove it...

Had a feeling it wasn't going to be easy! It's the Spyware Guard icon and when you right click it opens the program. There is nothing in the program to alter the set up so it looks like uninstall & reinstall and make sure it's not put there in the first place!

Thanks for quick reply,

Cheers

The tray icons are usually installed on boot by an entry in

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Take a look to idebntify the item you want to disable. This be done by delteing it or prefacing the string value with rem . Also, don't forget msconf.

Cheers Arky,

Couldn't find it in the registry but found it in msconfig.

Thanks.

Yeah, I considered mucking with the registry hard, which is why I didn't suggest it. Msconfig is good. Regseeker is better.
