After a long and arduous journey of all 3 of my xp pc's all of a sudden acting really funky, freezing and crashing for no reason. now after a good registry clean and re setting the system restore point to a month ago all seems to be well. ... except now my system idle process is at 99% and the computer is very slow but my Ram is really low. Hmmmmmmmm. I think there is something behind the sp3 update everybody I know right now with xpSp2 is having mysterious computer problems. conspiracy? . ...Just a theory.

any thoughts on how to the stop 99% system idle process?

The way to stop the 99%??

    Run something! lol

The idle process is where the processor "idles" when there is nothing to do.
On a PC that is actually "doing nothing", 99% is normal.

    You indicate ram is low?
How much is installed and how much is "available" and, what are you using to measure ram?

You may have a malware infection.

    Download, install and run HiJackThis

Run the scan and save log file option.
When the LOG file opens in Notepad, select all, copy
Then, return here and in a reply post, Paste,

As well, you indicate you ran a Registry Cleaner.
This is not, and never is a good idea!
