T.V. out on gateway performance 650

As you can gather I am a complete novice at computing!!!!
I want to be able to watch DVD'S through my T.V. I know I have T.V.out on my p.c. but when I connect to my T.V. I get sound but no pictures........HELP!!!!:very confused:

what kind of wires are you using to hook it up to the TV RCA's, s-video, or coaxial, and does it have settings for the brightness
