I have recently had a virus, i have removed all trace's with ewido, norton and drweb-cureit plus scanned and repaired the registry. however i still cannot get task manager to run. when i click on C:\WINDOWS\system32\taskmgr.exe it still comes up with message " Windows cannot find taskmgr.exe make sure you typed the name correctly"

Have i still got a virus or is another file or dll corrupt or missing.

It lives at C:\Windows\system32\dll cache. Go see if it is at home. If so, a shortcut can be made, and you can direct explorer to that directory through a browse dialog. (Hidden files and folders and protected system files need to be shown to see the dll cache)
