My task manager, msconfig, regedit won't stay on but for a second, and AIM tries to automatically log on with this message "the AIM hyperlink you've clicked on may require you to be online to work".

I had this problem with my old computer, and know I have to rename msconfig and regedit to find the virus, but I don't remember how. I've posted my hijack log. Please Please help!!

Thanks for the new hijack download. Here it is, but I did a system restore first to yesterday. Is that permanent? I hope so.

yes the system restore is permanent your computer now thinks its yesterday ....Put a tick by the following and FIX them after closing any open windows

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE

And delete this in SAFE MODE

    C:\WINDOWS\ALCXMNTR.EXE

Thanks for your reply. I have heard that even when you system restore, there are viruses that can hide and come back. Is that true? Also, aren't there other things in my HiJack log that I don't need? Also, do I really need doubles of some lines? I appreciate your help.

Yes, my computer acts normal now, but is the virus still lurking hidden somewhere because of the restore?

I would love to have your thoughts on my previously posted HiJack log. Thanks for your help, I appreciate it!

The only thing I can see in your log is that if you didnt put these below in your trusted zone you should remove them

    O15 - Trusted Zone: *.musicmatch.com
    O15 - Trusted Zone: *.musicmatch.com (HKLM)

And yes viruses can hide in the restore files, and if they do anti-virus software cannot remove them, but you can by disabling and enabling System Restore ....
