When running programs in XP Professional, my taskbar looks unusual (see attatched jpeg). This does not happen in IE or Explorer. How can I fix this?

Try going to the Microsoft.com website and either update or reinstall the Media player program. The Media player program may be corrupted on your system.

You will also get that white highlight in the registry editor, calculator and some other programs.

It is a theme problem. I fixed it by going to appearance in dekstop settings and applying the silver color scheme and then reapplying the blue theme.
