Okay, I don't have any idea why, but the dang thing is like it doesn't exist as far as my PC is concerned! I pop open the drawer, put in a CD (to download to iTunes), shut it, the little green light flashes, then . . . nothing. It doesn't show up under my computer or anything! It "used" to work! The PC is a pretty old HP, running XP, but hey, it's good enough for all I do at home. Any thoughts? Why does this happen? It's just like poof! it has disappeared from the radar!

Its very possible the drive is failing or has failed. If thats the case all you can do is replace it.
