I Think Tech-Related needs to be defined more clearly, I mean what is not tech related these days.

    http://forums.techguy.org/tech-related-news/662207-posting-tech-articles.html

I saw a couple of my posts on the tech related board got moved, even though they are tech related.

I did not make those posts to stir any discussion, but to allow comments if members want to, and to inform members of the tech advances made in all areas of technology.

Tech related news needs to be broad-end,NOT necessarily binded to some specific areas and topics.

Since TSG is a computer tech website, it actually never crossed my mind that it would NOT be tech news specifically related to computers or internet in some way. :) As a matter of fact, any of the forums that are for "general" or non-computer-based information specifically SAY so.......since the concept of this website is to be specifically computers.

We have a Random forum for members to post comments to general news and general tech topics. No one expects that any particular topic or thread in Random must generate discussion, it's just a clearing house for non-computer-specific information and comments. Sometimes the threads become a long discussion, sometimes they don't.

So I have to say I agree, tech news topics that do not directly relate to computers or internet should be in Random, not the Tech News forum. :)

That's exactly how I've alway seen it too. After all, it's Tech Support Guy but we don't support all kinds of technology just because tech is in the name. I moved the two threads in question to Random because they were more human interest stories.

Mumbodog - It might be helpful to mention which threads were in question. ;)

Cookie Gal know which ones, they have been the first to be moved that were posted by me, If that is the case, then there is a TON of posts that need to be moved on that board, or are you just pickin on me? ; -)

I guess I'll have to wait for Cookiegal to share the super-secret threads so I can comment on them... ;)

Hmm... I agree that just about anything is tech-related to some degree. In this case, it seems to me that the face transplant (holy cow!!) is a little more technical than some change in the currency, but even that didn't seem to be truly about new technology... I can see why it's a gray area, but I wouldn't have had a problem keeping that one in Tech-Related. Just my two cents. :)

We do also have a forum policy about "forum flooding" and the number of new threads a member is allowed to start in a given period, right? Maybe just a link to a Google News page would do, since a vast majority of those stories show up there. ;)

    Har har har, John. ;)

I really like having a Tech-Related News area on the site. 99% of the news stories posted at Google and other "big" new sites are not of much interest to me (personally). I'd say that I read 75% of those post at Tech-Related News. It would be nice if more of them included a short synopsis rather than just a link, though. I really enjoy when the person who posts the story also includes their own comments/thoughts on the story -- even if it's a sentence or two, which Mumbodog has done. I think that makes it far more valuable than just a news site and much more interesting to me. :)
