tech repair donwloaded professional over my xp home

I have windows xp home on my pc. I needed a new motherboard and a service tech replaced it, however, he downloaded his version of windows professional on my system and now I cannot validate or update. I cannot seem to locate this tech:mad: to get the pin from him. Anything i can do to fix?:confused: I also dont want to lose the personal stuff I have on my pc. HELP!!!:(

Welcome to TSG....

I would suggest that you manually backup all of the important data to another media such as CD-R's, DVD or whatever other media you prefer.

Then you should take the computer back to the person who put this illegal operating system on your computer and if necessary use any legal means to force this technician to install a legal version of Windows XP home on your computer so the job is done correctly and one way to start this is to contact the better business bureau to file a complaint towards his business.
