Speedfan, Motherboard Monitor 5, Everest, or any of the monitors/utilities that the motherboard manufacturer provides for download. For the first three use Google to find them, for the fourth go to the motherboard manufacturer's website.

Thanks, the reason I aks is because when I check the temps in BIOS. My CPU and System run around 43c to 45c. I have downloaded a few temp programs and they all ahve my systme temp at aroun45 but my CPU is up around 72C . IS there something that is causing my CPU temp to spike or is it something wrong with my setup which isn't allowing the Temp Programs to get the right temp?

mine is right. i also run motherboard monitor and they match up. the best way to check is see what the bios is reading, and if nothing is running in windows it should be about the same.

I have a Tyan Trinity S2099A Board running a P4 1.8, a Radeon 9550. The Everest Temps measure around the same. System temp of about 43c and a CPU temp of 72C. BIOS reads 42-44C for both.

Software apps are only as accurate as the sensors, which can be right on the money or off by 20 degrees or even more. Lok in the BIOS to see if the temps are close.

Unfortunately BIOS uses the same sensors, so treat all temps shown as an "approximate guide".

Just remember that a good temperature meter that is accurate to within ~ 1°C would probably cost about as much as the entire motherboard, which only uses a 10 cent component to give the answer. Treat the results accordingly.
