This problem did not appear until this morning. Found that my 60gb HDD (usually has ~50% free at all times the last year) suddenly had less than 2gb remaining. Eventually determined that a temp folder had created >65K files (named with thousands of alternates: e.g., "AdA2B4D.tmp" / 10,845KB - with a folder size of >24gb). Deleted them all. They kept repopulating at the rate of ~150plus every minute with file sizes ranging from <1KB to >15MB. Through trial and error found that the only thing that would stop this real time temp file folder re-population was to "end process" (via task manager) of Outlook (2007); it would not stop with just closing Outlook, an "end process" had to be employed. Ran AVG twice, Spybot, Super AntiSpyware, and Ad-Aware which exposed a bunch of tracking cookies that were removed. Tried deleting the temp folder; it was not allowed. Temp folder route: c/Users/(user name)/AppData/Local/Temp // machine specs: HP Compaq dx2250 / AMD Athlon 64x2Dual / 2.00GB Ram / 32 Bit/ Windows Vista, Business / Outlook: Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007. ...Any help would be sincerely respected and appreciated. Thanks, John

In addition to noting that a similar thread within the last hour was posted with the same problem ( http://forums.techguy.org/virus-other-malware-removal/920801-outlook-writing-temp-files.html ), I, too, just ran hijack this; the log (without Outlook open or running):

I was able to correct this problem with the fine help of the folks at AVG. For specifics, you are welcome to follow: http://forums.avg.com/us-en/avg-free-forum?sec=thread&act=show&id=85783

And since I can neither directly reply - nor for some reason even send a private message - to this member who posted within an hour of my original post an identical problem, if someone, who can get to him, would forward a copy of this reply and the link above, it might help him:

    ... his thread: http://forums.techguy.org/virus-other-malware-removal/920801-outlook-writing-temp-files.html

    Thanks.
