I have a user who keeps getting logged in with a "temp" profile. He can still access his own profile, but has to go through Explorer, then C:\Users\hisprofile\MyDocs, etc...

No error stating Win7 is using the temp profile, the only way he finds out is when he has nothing on his "desktop".

I did some research and found some registry hacks to clear this out, and it worked a few times (with reboots in between) but eventually returned.

I'm at the point now where I'm backing up his data, reimaging the machine, then restoring his data, but was wondering if there was a foolproof way to fix the "temp" profile issue without having to go through this process.

I fixed this issue once before by creating a new proflie, moving all relavant data to the new profile and deleting the old profile. In my case, the user wanted a name that had already been given to windows with that particular name and the issue would repeat when using that name. Once the name was changed to something diff, and data was moved, this issue did not repeat.

    I hope this information helps.
