    Greetings

So... I vote against a bill today. something dealing with should we allow kids to use calculators in school.

    Caucus forever.
debate beyond forever the issue which has been debated before and we all now know what the outcome will be.

So I show up in the basement.

    Find a thread on testing.

And what do I find? Fun and banter.

Keep it up people. Some of us really need this!!! thanks. ;)

    hehe...........using calculators in school heh?

I'm not so sure that would even help them get the answers right, now if you were talking Game Boy or Nintendo.......well that's likely to help bring the GPA's up considerably. :D

Have you noticed that even the cash registers at fast food places have pictures on them?...........now there is a way to keep things simple......;)............ just push the "Happy Meal" button twice for two of those and look things over for quite a while until you can find the picture of the "Shakes" one of those, and what else now?........... oh, that's right a "Big Mac Meal". Will that be all? ...........Oh now you messed me all up because you din't say you wanted that "Super Sized", hang on now I have to start all over again.

I'm with you Rep, not because I think that calculators are bad in school but because the one my daughter wanted was $300 Bucks

I mean I could buy a GForce3 video card for that. We have to set fiscal priorities don't we. :D

Cooool, Calc's in school. why don't the teachers just do there work for them. And they wonder why the GPA's have gone to the dogs. I Guess PTA now stands for "party time again", because it sure seems like they are to busy doing something else. I can't believe it even came to a vote. Some future we have to look forward to,...........2+2......OH $#%#

    Cheers, Rev

PS: Dark Star Hows the desert doing these days I lived in Apple vally for awhile, I miss it. Cheers

Rep: Forget calculators. What do you think about the issue of cellphones in school? I can tell you in our district, they are prohibited and the kids are subject to strict penalties if found with one. In this day of school massacres and terrorist threats, it disturbs my wife and I that our kid is prevented from having one in case of an emergency. Or even something more minor like missing the bus home. Any thoughts?

I am going through this calculator in school business right now with my son. I am against it. He came home just the other day and said that he needed one for class and I couldn't believe that they were allowed to use them in school. I won't let him use one to do his homework with either even though they are allowed to. I think they need to learn how to work the problems out themselves on paper. Hes only in the 6th grade so if he starts using calculators now he will never know how to figure anything out without one.
