I am using Windows 7 with Google Chrome as my default browser. On some web pages the text in an article is so faint it is difficult to read. Is there any way to darken the text? The actual text on the webpage is fine but when I click on a link to read an article, that is when the text is faint.

I'm a senior citizen and have problems when some creative website owners use strange backgrounds and type in shades I have a hard time reading.
I found, it is easy for me to simply highlight sections of the page and then I can read it because the colors change.

Post a link to a website that gives you trouble please then we can see if it really is the webpage that's causing the problem.

I can see why you have a problem. You should let the site administrators know it's an issue.

it is the website at fault not your browser settings. It is relatively OK in IE, but very hard to read in Chrome due to the methods used to display.
