It seems like my F key options when booting/rebooting have been disabled - they don't work! So I cannot boot up in safe mode and I cannot change the boot options to effect a clean reinstall.
    Help

Check BIOS to be sure that legacy USB support is enabled. Some machines require that you use a PS/2 keyboard until the USB driver loads.

System says it's supported. I have been trying to get into safe mode to have a look at bsod issues

What "System" says that what is supported? If the keyboard doesn't work, you just need to get a different type or enable it in BIOS. If it is "supported", then it will work unless there is something wrong with the keyboard.

Isn't the F8 key for advanced booting options not the F key?

Yep, F8 is the one... I was talking about all F keys.

Fresh Diagnose told me that legacy usb support is enabled.

Running XP pro. Will check the keyboard when I get a chance

    Thanks for your prompt reponse
