Have ~ 160$ to play with, give or take a few $.

    SYSTEM:
    ---------------------------------------------
    CPU: AMD Phenom x4 9950 (140w) @ 2.8Ghz
    Ram: 8GB DDR2 1066
    Motherboard: ASUS MA378
    Video ATI 4850
    -------------------------------------------

Going to get BF3 soon. Don't really have alot of money, have ~ $160 to play with do you think I should upgrade to the Phenom II x6 @ 3.2? Or just get the video card. Its going to be a while before I can go for an upgrade again. but I think the 6850 would give me much better performance in the end with DDR5 on the GPU and 1GB of memeory.

    --------------------------------------------

    thoughts? Ideas ?

    A Radeon HD 6850 isn't a big step up from the 4850.

The recommended(not minimum) graphics card for BF3 is a Geforce GTX 560 or a Radeon HD 6950.

You may want to save up for one of those cards as you'll get more value from the upgrade. Your HD 4850 will work for BF3. Why not get the game first and see how it runs and then when you can spend more, go for the bigger upgrade to the recommended card.

    The benchmark of 4850 VS 6850 VS 6950 is 1333 VS 2720 VS 3050
So from 4850 to 6850 is a big jump...

Yes if you can pay for 6950 that is good you get 10% on performance ...... and yes BF3 recommended 6950 (but we sell a lot of system use 6850 with Intel 2500K CPU and can run in ULTRA Setting for the game without any issue)

So really depends on your budget 6950 may over $200
