I recently acquired a Thinkpad E520 and began moving my applications to it. I need a headset. Seems that most (all I have found so far) headsets have two plugs -- one for mic, one for earpieces. But the Thinkpad has only one jack, I think that jack does talking and listening both.

Can I -- how do I -- use a headset with two plugs with the Thinkpad? Is there an adapter of some sort?

Does anyone make a headset with just one plug that would work with a Thinkpad?

I'd prefer a wired (with 3.5mm plug) headset rather than a USB headset, hence this inquiry.

Thanks.

A USB headset will produce much better sound. It's a digital-to-digital interface.

I may end up using a USB device, but . . . the Thinkpad has 4 USB ports and they are all taken with other gadgets. The headset-with-a-plug would allow me to avoid a USB hub and the hassle of carrying it around, etc.

Anyone know of a source for a headset with a single plug for talking and listening? Or a way to use a headset with two plugs on a laptop with one jack?

Thanks.
