ThinkPad Laptop Questions

Hello,
I recently bought a laptop off of ebay and it works great. However, there are a few questions and concerns I ahve about it. Does anyone out there know much about laptops? I know very little! Any help is appreciated!

you took a chance buying one off of ebay. i have heard a lot of horror stories about people buying laptops that had stuff wrong with them. some times they would be listed as 600-700 MHz processors and the buyer got a old 166-200 MHz laptop. and some times people just took the money and ran not sending a laptop
