    This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effort on this computer. Please contact your system administrator. I have win 7 and ie 8. I have tried almost everything. The only corrections I found is for win xp and vista.:(

    What are you doing when you get this error? Be more specific with this issue.

    When I click on a link in my outlook 2007 I get that error msg. Thank you for your help.:(

    Are you the administrator on the pc?
    Or is it a standard/limited account.
    Try running outlook as an admin
    Right click on outlook and select run as admin

    Do you mean "restrictions in effect" rather than "restrictions in effort" ?

    It usually means there is a group policy setting is preventing it. Did you run gpedit.msc or Administrative Tools/Local Security Policy, to set up some restrictions?

    Which version of Win 7 do you have? Gpedit and Local Security Policy is only available on Professional and above versions.

    Go here http://www.slipstick.com/problems/link_restrict.htm and follow the instructions.

    Scroll down to "Edit Registry, Part 2" there you will find a link to download a file. Do as it says , download and then change the extension to "reg" and the double click the file.
