I am not sure if my problems are associated with one another, but when I start up my computer I keep getting a fetal error, and my computer reboots. I read somewhere to uncheck the tic mark by the reboot after system fail, in order to be able to see what the error was. It kept restarting every 5 minutes or so until I unmarked that box. Now it has not reset, but my CA Eztrust antivirus keeps having update failures. If I take my EZ firewall off I cannot make my windows firewall come up. I dont know what is going on with this machine, but it is very frustrating. I am not very good with the inner workings of computers, but I would really like if someone could help me figure this mess out.
Thanks:confused:

Welcome,

The best way is to post a HijackThis log and let an Log Expert to look at it for you.

Download Hijack This to your desktop
  • Extract Files
  • Open the file and click on the Hijack.exe
  • It will open and use the default path
  • Check do you wish an Icon
  • Click on Icon and choose "scan system and save a logfile" usually in notepad
  • Copy and Paste the logfile in your next post
  • Using Ctrl+A to copy All and Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste.

Howdy Mikki911

I have requested your thread be moved to the Security Section as that is where a lot of the Hijack log Experts are.

Download Combofix to your desktop:

* Double-click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
* When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply.

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

When I try and download this program I get an error message that says "please do not rename the tool, kindly rename it back to Combofix.exe
I did not touch anything while I was running it, and I tried it a couple of times. After it gives me that error, it just closes down.
As for the two firewalls, I am not sure. I do not know how the zone alarm one got on here. My system is also giving me a balloon that says my antivirus software is out of date, and that is not true either.
Thanks for your time
Mikki

lets see if this will work then
  • Download WinPFind
  • Right Click the Zip Folder and Select "Extract All"
  • Extract it somewhere you will remember like the Desktop
  • Dont do anything with it yet!

Reboot into Safe Mode
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Doubleclick WinPFind.exe
  • Click " Configure Scan Options"
  • Select " Run Add ONs" and then select ALL the options in the box below it, Press Apply
  • Now Click "Start Scan"
  • It will scan the entire System, so please be patient!
  • Once the Scan is Complete
    • Reboot back to Normal Mode!
    • Go to the WinPFind folder
    • Locate WinPFind.txt
    • Place those results in the next post!. It will be too big to post so you will need to attach it to your reply

This program will not keep scanning the computer... It keeps NOT RESPONDING in the scanning registry section. It says when you start scanning that it may say not responding but as long as the light on the CPU keeps coming on, it is ok. The light does not come on after about 30 minutes. I tried scanning without checking all of those boxes and it still freezes up. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks again.

You asked earlier why I am running 2 firewalls, The zone lab firewall is the same as the EZ trust firewall, as far as I know. In my startup menu, it says they are the same thing.
