I recently downloaded a freeware version of TightVNC to from the internet to allow me to perform "fixes" to my father's computer who has become EXTREMELY forgetful and otherwise is ignorant when it comes to computer use.

    My questions are:
    1) will having this software on both his and my computer harm the OS in any way?
    2) should we have any security concerns while using this software when performing remote connections?
    3) is there any potential for malware, viruses, or other types of malicious material to be installed on our systems while using this software?

If anyone would have any other thoughts or recomendations regarding this software or a possible safer alternative I would be interested in knowing. Thanks!
