    Dear Tech Support Guy

I am new to your community, thank you for welcome me ! :)

I am running Windows XP professional Version 2002 SP 2 on a AMD Athlon 1.8 GHz processor with 1 GB of Ram. My computer knowledge is basic to intermediate....

I found your site, because I had (have ?) the same problem as junior member 'rolland' with the above title. He posted his problem on 18 Apr. 2005 and Senior Member 'Egg' answered 19 Apr. 2005.

I also followed the steps suggested by 'Egg' as well and I am not sure, but I think there is still a 'virus' in my system as my Norton Antivirus detects still a virus and delete it and then after another scan there is again one.

I also downloaded several tools that 'Egg' suggested and i ran Hijackthat (HJT).

Could you help me please to analyze my HJT logfile below ?

Also, what is 'Find It_s' ? There was such a scan from 'rolland' on 18 Apr.
How can I do this 'Find It_s' scan ?

Thank you all so much in advance for help (and sorry for my bad English, i am German) ;)

    hi, welcome to TSG.

IMPORTANT! Move Hijack this from the Temp folder or from the Desktop to it's own folder!

Make a new folder in C:\ and call it Hijack this, and Save hijack this to
this folder so that it runs properly and can make back ups. Click scan,
then save the log and post it here so we can take a look at it for you.

I take it you have run the uninstaller for aurora, nail.exe, svcproc.exe etc, and you have downloaded and ran spybot and adaware?

Go here and download Microsoft Antispyware Beta. First in the top menu click
File then Check for updates to download the definitons updates.

After updating look in the right side of the main window under "Run Quick
Scan Now" and click Spyware scan options. In that window put a tick by Run a
full system scan and then put a check by all three options below that then
    click Run Scan now.

When the scan is finished, let it fix anything that it finds (have it
quarantine the items that have that option rather than delete just in case.
It is a beta program and there may be false positives)

    Restart your computer.

All tools can be downloaded at the link below!

    . Microsoft Antispyware Beta

    download and run ccleaner.

Mypctuneup.com performs technical support for a number of companies and we are sorry to hear that advertising software is causing you problems. We will gladly assist you in removing our partners' advertising software from your computer as expeditiously as possible.
From our website you can scan your PC and determine whether or not the software is installed on your machine, and if so, you can then choose to uninstall. To run the uninstall tool click on the link below:

    Dear Khazars :)

First many thanks for the help. I did all you suggested and her is my new scan.
The scan of norton antivirus and mircosoft antspyware beta and spybot and also adaware did not result in threads finally. (y)

However, could somebody or you be so kind and look at my latest HJT log below and analyze if there are any problems or potential threads or so ....

    Thanks !!! :)

Your log is clean apart form these leftovers, you never cleaned them from the last time?

Is your computer running better now?

you need to rerun hijack this and then check all the boxes below and click FIX. Close all browsers and programmes before clicking FIX.

you should now turn off system restore to flush out the bad restore points and
then re-enable it and make a new clean restore point.

get the hosts file from here.

put it into C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc, for xp and w2k or

    C:\windows\ for 95,98 and ME

ie-spyad.Puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected

when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.

prevX a new tool, looks like a good one

Use spybot's immunize button and use spywareblaster' enable
protection once you update it. you can put spybot's hosts file into
    your own and lock it.

I would also suggest switching to Mozilla's firefox browser, it's safer, has a built in pop up blocker, blocks cookies and adds.
