Too much memory running for cable to run

I have Windows XP installed in a Dell Demension XPS H233 an older computer and have a cable connection of only 10 Mbps.
Upon looking at my system information it shows Total memeory of 96MB which is max for this computer and available memory of
only 23.68MB, when no other programs are showing that they are running. Is this the cause of the low cable, how can I find what is running and close it?

I highly doubt your cable connection is 10Mbps. Are you sure you're not looking at your network card information? It's probably a 10Mbps card. Check your actual throughput speed at www.dslreports.com.

If your computer is running slowly, I wouldn't be surprised. Your computer's specs are below the recommended level for Windows XP.

When I start the computer it gives me the option of starting
Windows XP or Windows95 the previous the version this computer came with. Could this be the problem that my computer may be running 2 forms of windows at the same time? If so how do I delete the win95? If not should I not run Win XP on my computer or would it be better to run Win 2000?

Your computer runs slowly under Windows XP because it is underpowered. Windows XP needs a faster processor and more memory than your computer has. The speed has nothing to do with the number of operating systems on your computer.

I don't think you'd be happy with the performance of your computer under Windows 2000 either. That really needs more processing power and more memory as well.

I was running Win98, then WinME on a computer that has a 200MHz MMX processor with 80 Meg RAM, maxed out.
Still XP Pro ran faster the ME and as fast as Win98.
Did you set it up as FAT32 or NTFS when you installed XP?
Also hardware and startup items probably eating up your RAM.
