Hi. have an old HP Pavilion N5170 laptop with a toshiba DVD -Rom SD-C2402 as the stock standard dvd/cd player.
It orginally came with windows ME and I've since installed XP Professional with all the updated patches.
My problem is this, ever since I have had this machine, it refuses to recognise and black cds. It will play everything else except for the black ones. I could not get any answers from HP and the Toshiba site no longer lists this particular drive

Anyone have any ideas how to get it to read black disks?

    Thanks for any help

    Hi and welcome.

Probably because it's older, it won't.
