I have a Toshiba Tecra M2V with 120gb Hdd, the hindge on display has broken,
I have a Toshiba Tecra 9100 with 40gb Hdd, both unit run XP Home sp3.
I want to swap the Hdd's, the M2V will remain open as desk top/print server on home network.
When I tried the swap the 9100 went into endless reboot cycle, safemode didn't work??

    First Name:
The problem is that Xp was installed on each computer using the hardware (more specifically the Chipset) specific to that computer. When you try to swap the hard drive into a computer that does not have the identical hardware, xp is looking for the hardware it was originally installed on and not finding it there for failing to boot.
