I have an older Toshiba laptop that won't start. It appears that there is a problem with the hard drive. I removed the HD and put in a HD ( that i knew was working) from a different laptop. I hear the cooling fan running and i see a couple of lights on the side come on. But nothing else happens. No screen at all. Below are the specs of the HD (working) that I had put into this Toshiba.

If you don't even get any display as soon as the laptop is turned on, I would say the problem is a display of motherboard failure. Are you able to connect an external monitor to see if you get any display on power up?
