Hi I'm trying to fix my mother's laptop. It has an interesting problem that I've never seen

Whenever the laptop is unplugged from AC power, the touchpad works just fine with no problems. But whenever it is plugged into AC power it stops working all the time except a few rare occasions it does.

I've already tried re-installing the driver for the touchpad but it didn't work at all.

    Any suggestions?

Only thing I can think of is to completely unnstall the touchpad, reboot and let it reinstall.
Can't really think of any reason why plugging in AC would cause something like this.

Did you download the Synaptic application from the Toshiba site?

It's always possible that the pad itself has something wrong with it. But if you also have a mouse program installed, try removing that.

And, uncheck the box in Synaptics settings (or check it if unchecked to try it both ways) about disabling the pad when another interface device is connected.

I like that last idea, but I can't find that setting anywhere in the properties of the mouse or the device settings.
