Hi,

My mother has dementia and has forgot her password to access Windows, I've tried everything to get it or restore the laptop but it's seeming impossible , does anyone have any idea how to restore the laptop to factory settings?

Sorry to hear that
However, we are still unable to assist in bypssing any passwords

If you want to go back to factory settings - you will lose all the data and possibly any emails that have been used with a program on the PC and POP

Recovery

From CD

You may have a hidden partition on the harddrive - if so you can recovery from there -
BUT - you should also be able to create some bootable recovery DVD or CDs from the hidden partition using the toshiba recover cd creator

two ways to get to the hidden partition on Toshiba
Press an hold the zero key and power on - this will enable the recovery menu
OR on later models
Tap F8 as it boots and then use repair computer - from menu

hold F8 and turn on PC
choose first option
Repair PC

may need to change the keyboard layout to UK
then log in to Administrator user

Full menu of options appear

if not you can order replacement recovery cds

Thanks for your reply, there's nothing important on the laptop so happy to restore. I've tried holding the zero, and the F8 but get absoloutley nothing, the laptop just starts up and goes straight to Windows log in screen, the laptop has no Cd drive and I have no recovery discs. Completely stuckn

If there is no recovery partition the PC may have been supplied with a Recovery Disk
I know samsung have done this on recent laptops

Otherwise - order recovery media from Toshiba - I posted the link above
