I connected a USB flash memory stick to one of the USB ports on my Toshiba Satelite and peculiar things began to happen. First... nothing. Then after a long wait the Windows "Unrecognized Device" message popped up. "Fine," I say to myself, "I'll connect it to another computer." When I reached down to pull it out I got a nasty burn. I've confirmed that the USB stick is "Fried," literally this time. Can anyone explain why this happened?

Or maybe some practical use ideas for my spontaneous combustion USB ports.
