    Hi all,

I am looking for a totally free driver scanner and updater if it exists. I have seen DriverRobot and DriverDetective that claim to be free, but actually cost about $30 per license. Any info would be great because I would love to be able to update my drivers for free.

Don't wast your time or money.
When it comes to drivers, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I loaded Vista Business onto my bosses laptop and a few of his driver mysteriously went missing. Dell is known for that kind of stuff and they have an entire site for it but its useless if you dont know "what" is missing a driver. In device manager there are about seven "Generic Devices" several of which I was able to get figured out by guessing but the others I am clueless about.

Was this new OS installed using a Del or a Retail DVD?

Does Del have drivers for this machine and this OS?
Some machines are NOT supported to be upgraded in the manner from Del.

Actually I caved and purchased DriverRobot for $30. Worked well, don't have any more "generic devices" with no drivers. Thanks for the thoughts though.

Also if you guys have any suggestions I would gladly entertain them because I have a feeling its not a "one-time buy" if you catch my drift.
