My husband's touchpad on his Gateway PC stopped working last night. Therefore Bill is unable to download the Sysinfo utility.

He has Gateway nv77h18u- several years old. Windows 10.

Any suggestions to get touchpad working again?

Thanks!

Have you tried connecting and using a USB wireless mouse with it until the touchpad issue gets resolved?

What's the exact SNID number and serial number on that Gateway NV77H series laptop?

According to its support site, it has an Elantech or Synaptics touchpad.
It has downloadable drivers only for Windows 7 64-bit and Windows 8 64-bit.
How long has it been running Windows 10?

Thanks for the quick response!

Bill doesn't have a wireless mouse... I do but it's connected to my Mac.

SNID #: 14203123916
Serial #: LXWZL0200414207A071601
Windows 10: Probably about 2 years

You can buy a basic non-gaming wireless mouse for $15 - $20.
The Logitech M310 wireless mouse is "plug and play" and requires no software and is what I use.
There are other Logitech models though that should work just as well for you.

According to both of those numbers, you do you have a Gateway NV77H series laptop.
It appears to be 5 - 6 years old and appears to have come with Windows 8 64-bit.
Is that correct?

Go into the Device Manager, then expand the Mice and other pointing devices heading.
What's the exact names of the devices listed there?

Thanks for the tips on the mouse- now just to get him to use one! LOL

Mfg date 11/10

Is it going to take the mouse to get into the Device Manager? We'll have to get him one tomorrow.

Got the Logitech M310 wireless mouse yesterday and accessed the Device Manager.

Names of devices listed:
-Elan input device

Bill clicked 'check for updates' and it says 'the best drivers for your device are already installed'.

He shut down and restarted his computer and touchpad still not working.

Any suggestions?

I'm glad to hear that 123Zbyniek found the solution for your touchpad issue.

Now you have the option of using either the touchpad or the wireless mouse.

Personally, I find the wireless mouse much quicker and easier to use than the touchpad.
