I just bought a Kensington Slimblade mouse recently:
    http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-Sl...4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1294350328&sr=1-4

I was looking to replace a Logitech Wireless Trackman so as to minimize the amount of wires on my laptop (one of the Trackman mice has a receiver with a really long cord):

To make a long story short, the ball on the Kensington doesn't act like the ball on the Trackman. But, for $20 and a recommendation from my dad, I don't consider it a waste of money. Instead, I was wondering if there might be a way to configure the ball on the Kensington mouse I listed to act like a Trackman. If not, how much would I be looking at to buy a mouse with a Trackman type ball on it and a receiver with a shorter wire or no wire? I took a quick look at Amazon and it looks like those mice start at $50.

Much appreciated. In fact, after posting the thread, I took another look and found that mouse and this:

Actually, now that I recall, one of those mice were one of the options I was looking at some months ago when I was researching mice. I just wanted to try avoiding the $50 price range. But, if there's no way to jury-rig the Kensington I have right now, then I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet.

Is there not a program that came with the Kenington that allows you to customize the mouse actions? I know with the mice I have in my suite, both Microsoft and Logitech there is the software for this. Though none of them are Track Mice.

It does have a setup disc. But, the included software does not enable to changing of the scroll ball into a trackball.
