Unable to transfer photos from Sony Cybershot DSC-V1 digital camera to my HP computer Windows 98 Second Edition. Have called customer support Sony, followed all instructions from manual but photos will not transfer. My computer is 6 years old but works fine until this problem. Any suggestion will be appreciated.

We would have to know what you have done so far. If you have other USB devices that are working try the camera in one of the plugs you know works. Card readers are cheap and usually load faster than through the camera. It might be worth the $15 to bypass the camera completely.

If you want to download through the camera and want to troubleshoot you might try giving us some information.
Did the Sony driver load OK.
Did you get a new hardware wizard when you first connected the camera?
How did those two things go as compared to the instructions?
Does the camera show under cameras and scanners in Control Panel? In Device Manager? Does the software show in Add/Remove Programs? What has Sony had you do?

If the camera shows as a removable device in Windows Explorer or My Computer when turned on and plugged in to the USB, you can bypass the software and download directly from that drive.
