The speedest way to accomplish data transfer is by removing the hard drive from the old unit and hooking it as a secondary on your new one. That allows you to access and transfer all the required data to new drive at very good speeds. If you are leary about tampering with the new unit then the other way would be direct cable connect but requires extra cabling in networking the two together.

If both machines have NIC (Ethernet) ports, you can also buy a $6 crossover cable and network them to transfer the data.
