The motherboard on my Lenovo 910 crashed due to an overheated charger. I wanted to place data on the hard drive from the broken laptop onto another Lenovo laptop, the Yoga 2 Pro Model 20266, but they're incompatible. I'm particularly in need of Outlook email and calendar, or documents that weren't backed up to an external drive while an IT guy was diagnosing the system failure. What's the easiest, fastest way to get data on the new machine? I don't have the adapter, equipment nor expertise to do it.

There is no way to do it without a usb connection for the drive from the Lenovo910
You buy a usb connection drive case
which you need depends on the drive in the 910
I do not know as you do not say which model of 910 if it is a standard 2.5 inch laptop drive
    OR an M2 drive
You then connect that to the Yoga 2 Pro model and you should then be able to access the data you want
The docs will be no problem but your outlook email should be available depending on what setup you were using on the new Yoga

Further advice depends on the drive in the 910
If you have taken it out which presumably you have - post the maker and full model
and if possible post a picture

It may help if you post the full model details of the 910 and the serial number
    https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/gb/en/solutions/find-product-name

as there are many versions of 910
    https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/gb/en/...ody_BrowseProduct&searchType=0&keyWordSearch=

of course that way will only tell me what drive was in the laptop when sold, not if has been changed what is in it now

The crashed laptop is the Yoga 900-131SK Model 80MK. The hard drive has been removed. I don't think I can transfer the data myself, since I don't have the equipment and I've never taken a computer apart. Maybe I should find a local tech support person.

You will as I said have to buy the drive case with usb connection
If you cannot do so or rather do not want to - and then take out the drive, and try, although I will guide you I cannot of course do the job for you - so yes if you fell uneasy you will have to pay a local tech

as far as I can see it has an M2 SATA disc

    Not that difficult

but not as easy as just undoing a small panel on the case

When you reply please just type in box that appears AFTER my post, not by clicking reply on my post that as you can see quotes back all I have typed

    Good luck with it
