I have just bought a new PC and want to transfer my Office 2000 Pro licence across (I have one desktop and one laptop already registered on the software). When I try to install office, it tells me that the PID key is wrong - I checked and it isn't. I seem to recollect that the licence allows only 2 installations. The Microsoft web site is no help at all.

Does anyone know how I can transfer it across please. I don't mind uninstalling it from the old PC to release one unit from the licence

Thanks

I can personally attest that there is no limitation in installing Office Pro 2000 on more than 1 desktop and 1 laptop. It is an infringement on MS licensing to do so, but MS did not build the limitation into their CD.

You must have the wrong number down. The Product Key will be located on the Cd case or box that came with the CDs. It is not the same as the Product ID, which can be found in the registry, as well as in each program.
