My CPU recently crashed because of a heatsink overload. This basically ruins the motherboard and stops the computer from running in any mode. This is not the first time this happened so I'm quitting on this lemon. I bought a new CPU and want to transfer some files from the old one without fixing it. How can I transfer the lod drive without booting the computer?

Take the Hard drive out of the bad PC and put it in the new PC as Slave(SL)

Remove the hard disk from the old machine and connect it on the secondary IDE channel (temporarily replacing the optical drives). Then you can read whatever you need from the disk.
