I have tried using the TrashIt program, tried Terminal, but am unable to empty my Trash. I have the latest Mac OS. Can anyone help me with this?
I also tried downloading OnyX, but it says I need a password and my Macbook doesn't use a password.

Also, how do I get rid of the .DS store icon on my desktop?

    Thanks for any help!

    Reboot.
Run Disk Utility and Repair Permissions on the volume.
Holding option key, right click Trash and select empty trash.

If by chance that doesn't work, can you post the output from when you tried to use Terminal to delete it?
