So I tried to do a virus scan with my PC-Cillin Internet Security Program, since I havn't done one for a while, except it crashed in less than one minute. The directory it was currently scanning was the
    C:\Documents and Settings\<User Name>\Local Settings\Temp

Now that I'm in this folder, I notice a bunch of "Perflib_Perfdata_***" Where the *** means a string of numbers and letters. These files seem to be the cause of the crash.

Any info on the Temp folder would be greatly appreciated, and any fixes too.

You can use the ATF Cleaner to clear out any files in Temp.

These files are generated by processes in the normal course of operation; however, files are orphaned when you do not shut down a computer properly, such as by pressing the power button on a computer. It is also possible that these files can be orphaned while a server is running.

    * Click here to download ATF Cleaner by Atribune and save it to your desktop.
    • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
    • Under Main choose: Select All
    • Click the Empty Selected button.
      • If you use Firefox:
        • Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
        • Click the Empty Selected button.
        • NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
      • If you use Opera:
        • Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
        • Click the Empty Selected button.

          [*]NOTE:
If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
    • Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
