Hello, Everyone: If i take a snapshot of (say) an Error message on my desktop and Paste in i paint, How do i trim off the excess that is around the picture (like a web page of desktop)? I just want the snapshot itself to show if i email it to someone! Tom

The simple answer is not to use Paint. It doesn't have a "Crop image" tool. You need to use an image editor that has the option to "crop the image", something like MS Photo Editor will do the job if you have MS Office installed. Otherwise virtually any of the mainstream image editing packages.

Tom- want my phone number ? It seems that I see your questions so often it would almost be easier that way. :)

"Paint" is kind of a dog for what you are trying to do (I couldn't find a "crop" function at all). I suggest you go HERE and download LViewPro 1.B (the one in the middle). It's free, it's so simple to use, and it is not nearly as confusing to do the basics as the current version of LView. Once you get it and install it post back and I will walk you through the steps.

Howdy

paste your screenshot into Paint then click on the select tool icon( at the top of the tool bar)
then select the part that you want by left click, hold and drag. once you have the area selected click edit then copy... then open a new paint window click file then new then paste

There are other programs better at it than Paint but...it will work

here's a little screenshot

by the way ...I did that all with Paint

Hey, Tom... I promise that Nick and I are not ganging up on you though you must wonder sometimes. It's just that he and I happened to see some of your posts at about the same time, had similar thoughts regarding your inquiries, and posted replies at almost the same time. I believe I think up the right answer then he steals my brain-waves and beats me to the keyboard. (Actually, he knows a hellova lot more about the micro world than I do).

You always seem like a nice guy who wants to learn. Therefore people are going to be happy to help you.
