I have the exact same problem (complete with "pervent" spelling error) as the guy in this post (http://forums.techguy.org/malware-removal-hijackthis-logs/758895-hello-all-trojan-clicker-win32.html). I also have Windows XP Home.

I got a virus notification from my anti-virus software (Trend Micro PC-cilliin Internet Security 14, if it matters). Then my computer restarted itself and I immediately got a legitimate-looking pop-up bubble from an icon on my task bar with the message (spelling errors intact): "Your computer is infected! Windows has detected spyware infection! It is recommended to use special antispyware tools to pervent data loss. Windows will now download and install the most up-to-date antispyware for you. Click here to protect your computer from spyware!" It then tried to install the software for me, which it was able to do since I wasn't able to exit out due to Task Manager being disabled (though I at least managed to get Task Manager re-enabled eventually and deleted the fake folder). Now my Trend Micro software is disabled and it won't let me use anything but the fake software. I did get another ostensibly legitimate message from the Windows Firewall saying that I had a Trojan-Clicker.win32.tiny...something virus(the message was partially cut off). EDIT: Okay, that wasn't legitimate either. Here's a link to someone who had the same thing happen, with screenshots: (http://www.tian.cc/2008/10/antispyware-reviewbiz-scareware-removal.html)

I appreciate any help you can give me.

    Here's my HijackThis! log:

Okay, since my virus protection was completely compromised I did a system restore and the fake pop-up balloon from my task bar, the fake virus notification messages, and the regular website pop-ups are all gone, and Windows has reverted to having my Trend Micro as my virus software instead of the fake one. I also cleared out the suspicious files from my Application Data folder. I don't know if this makes me in the clear or not (as in I don't know if I have some lingering files in my registry or whatever), but all of the worst stuff at least is gone.
