 I am running Bitdefender (supposed to be protecting my every bit, yeah right), IE 6, OE 6, Windows Me. I keep getting trojans and spyware but I cannot install anything that will conflict with Bitdefenders firewall/anti-virus or it wont run. I don't really want to uninstall it, it's a good program for viruses and spam but it really bites on trojans and spyware. Can one of you great tech's help me out please? Here is my most recent HijackThis:

Download and save these freeware/donationware programs to a permanent folder. Remember to check for updates and run them weekly.

***NOTE***A new version of Ad-aware has been released.

***ALSO***A new version of SpyBot's been released (v1.3...it's no longer in beta). If you have been using 1.2 you can install right over it. If you downloaded and used 1.3 beta it is suggested you remove it and reboot prior to installing.

    Ad-aware SE download

    Configure Ad-aware

First in the main window look in the bottom right corner and click on "Check for updates now." then click Connect and download the latest reference files.

From the main window, click Start then under "Select a scan Mode " select "Perform full system scan.

Next deselect "Search for negligible risk entries.

    Click the "Next" button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get delete the selections. (Right-click within the window and choose "Select All" from the drop down menu and click Next)

    Restart your computer.

    SpyBot Search and Destroy download

    Open SpyBot.

Click the button to "Search for Updates" Download and install the Updates.

    Next click "Check for Problems".

Put a check mark beside the red entries.

Choose "Fix Selected Problems" and allow Spybot to fix the red entries.

I also highly recommend you install and update SpywareBlaster Click the link below, in my signature, to read a tutorial on the use of SpyWareBlaster.

Run Ad-aware and Spybot in Safe Mode.

How to start your computer in Safe Mode

Re-start your computer into normal mode and post another HJT log in this thread.

Run Ad-aware and Spybot. It looks like you've had some malware problems in the past. (y)

Before we start, let's disable your System Restore. After the infection's been cleaned re-enable system restore.

Disabling System Restore in Windows XP Disable System Restore in Windows ME

IF, for some reason, you lose the ability to use IE or lose your internet connection...open HJT-->"Config"-->"Backups"-->"Restore".

Open HiJackThis. Click "Scan". Put a checkmark next to these:

    O9 - Extra button: Privacy Bar - {cc4b2ee5-4803-11d7-8a38-00b0d0c6b814} - (no file)

    O9 - Extra button: @Home - {EF849973-FB8D-4021-8A85-D02493D8DF51} - http://home.excite.com (file missing) (HKCU)

    O16 - DPF: {4ED9DDF0-7479-4BBE-9335-5A1EDB1D8A21} -

    O16 - DPF: {E77C0D62-882A-456F-AD8F-7C6C9569B8C7} (ActiveDataObj Class) -

    O16 - DPF: {BCC0FF27-31D9-4614-A68E-C18E1ADA4389} (DwnldGroupMgr Class) -

    O16 - DPF: {9A9307A0-7DA4-4DAF-B042-5009F29E09E1} (ActiveScan Installer Class) -

Close ALL browser windows (except HiJackThis ;) ) and click "Fix checked."

    Post another HJT log.

Hey FinestRanger, (Airborne too?? :D )

Thanx again. Most of the errors have stopped w/Ad-Aware and Spybot but now I am getting a lot of IEXPLORE.EXE/C++ Runtime errors when click on certain e-mail links (the same ones every time, usually they are survey links like OTXmedia). Here is the latest HJT after following your instructions (system restore is still disabled):

Your HJT log looks good. The OTX e-mails...hmm...maybe they're trying to run a script. Are you using HTML for e-mail viewing or text?

    FinestRanger,

I have e-mail send set to HTML, the only option for read is "read all messages as plain text", how do I check for HTML? Please advise...
Also, should I enable Sys Restore now?

    No.

If you're viewing them as text, they can't run anything "nasty" on the computer.

It's only occuring with the OTX e-mails?

 The errors come up whenever I try to click on a link in an OE6 memolink e-mail with an IFilm survey like this link:

    http://www.memolink.com/po1.cfm?ID=45503&K=23374&U=1248080

If I click on the same link in yahoo or hotmail I get a C++ runtime error.

Or if I am already in an OTX survey on the memolink website and it asks me for permission to download a FlashPlayer to play a clip and I click on yes, the survey crashes and will not advance.

Sometimes the Microsoft error window will say no app, but 95% of the time the IEXPLORE.exe error is in drmv2clt.dll. I had problems with Windows media DRM for about 2 months before my 1st post (still do, but I have given up on it). I was attempting to play a protected cd that I purchased and it wouldn't play so I tried various things to tweak the drm and allow playback. Nothing worked. After that the spyware and adware got much worse until I made my first post. I think this .dll is one of my big problems. Is there a way to fix it this dll or what do you suggest??? I reinstalled Flashplayer, here is my latest HJT:

    Something just dawned on me...

OTX is on my restricted sites list. I wouldn't worry about e-mails from them.

I can't vouche for this site, but they have a copy of drmv2clt.dll if you'd like to try that route.
