Hi there, I'm new here. I've wanted to connect my old laptop to my TV to stream Netflix, video, whatever. TV is a couple of years old, laptop is more like 5 years, running Windows7. I'm fairly proud that I've managed to get the right connectors (a VGA plus a HTML/VGA converter) and get all the wires attached where they should be. I've even connected the wireless keyboard.

However, although the computer recognizes the TV and allows me a duplicate screen, the TV doesn't recognize that there's any input. I'm not sure where to go from here. Please help!

Have you got a link to the HDMI/VGA converter you're using ?
Have you selected the correct input on the TV menus ?

The HDMI VGA converter is a physical one, it's the Staples brand (all they had). And yes, I checked that I'm on the right HDMI channel.

The other HDMI is my DVD and it says no signal (it's off). The one for the laptop says not connected.
