trying to change web browsers media file type handling

    before i installed vlc player when i would click a link to a certain .asf file i have uploaded on a file hosting site windows media player would open and automatically play the file. now i get prompted to either open or save the file and it says Type: VLC media file (.asf). how do i change it back so it just opens with windows media player?

    R-click the file, click properties, you will see "opens with", then a button "Change", click on the change button, then select the program you want it associated with. If the program is not in the list, click the "Browse" button and navigate to the program you want.

    Look in VLC and un-tick .asf in associations/file types and open WMP and tick .asf in File Types (under Options).
