Hi all and HAPPY NEW YEAR,

I have just been given a Philips DVD writer and I need a bit of help
setting it up.

In my machine already, I have:

1 x DVD Rom drive (set as Master)
1 x CD writer (set as Slave)

I was wandering; Is it possible to connect the DVD writer as well, or
would I have to replace one of the others?

The IDE cable is connected to both the drives and the only other cable is
for the Hard Drive. Would it be possible to run it off the Hard Drive's
cable or is this NOT a good idea?!

I cannot see another input to put another cable, and therefore am stuck.

If anyone has any ideas I'd be very grateful.

I would replace the cd writer. The dvd burner will also burn cds. Dvd rom and burner will both act as cd rom also.

I'd replace the DVDROM. Many times, the DVD burner will burn CD's slower than a native CD writer, and since the DVD burner will do anything the DVDROM will do, it's the logical choice.
