HELP - while trying to fix my Maxtor external HD using Drive Rescue my windows XP machine froze up and now I can't reboot.

I can get to the Dell - Optiplex GX260 screen using the f12 key, but that is about it. It usually freezes saying that it has an error loading the system.

What can I do from here?

Run the Dell hard drive diagnostics . . the drive may have failed. The diagnostics are on the Resource CD or you can download from Dell support site.

Could be the hard drive itself or the files on the drive are corrupted.

Is the hard drive seen in BIOS? If not don't forget to check the cables.
In BIOS hard drive still there as boot device?
What problem were you trying to fix?
Do you have any Dell Diagnostic CDs?
Do you have a copy of the XP CD?
